Many love to watch when big websites like Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook etc  strive hard to be the worlds most visited website but many people really dont know who are behind these successful sites. So as per the ranking provided by Alexa a popular ranking based website I made a  list of top most visited websites globally along with the people who were behind them. So following is the data given from rank 1 Google to rank 9 Twitter.(The ranking followed here is as on 29th march 2011 given by Alexa)
  
1.Google: After completing a decade and two years of its online presence, Google still stands number one search engine and top most visited website in the net. Paving back to the history of Google which was being launched in 1998 by two Stanford University PhD students Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The company has been developing since its success, getting into their accounts few of the top sites like Youtube, Blogger etc. And these two men successfully made their entries into Forbes list of billionaires individually.

2.Facebook: Will there be any website which can stand strong beside world’s top sites like yahoo and Google was a billion dollar question not until Mark Elliot Zuckerberg a Harvard university dropout made a successful website called Facebook. After facing few critics it stands in the second position in the worlds top 10 most visited websites. He was being named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2010. He was offered 1 billion dollars for this website by a top company nevertheless he didn’t accept the deal and now he is being noted as youngest billionaire with net worth of 13.5 billion.

3.YouTube: A video sharing website which is ranked third most visited website in the world was being designed by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim who were co-employees in paypal. They shared the designing of website based on their skills and what came out was a video sharing portal which has now got more than a 100 million short videos. Initially Chad Hurley was CEO and Steve Chen was the Chief Technology Officer but soon this website was being bought by Google for $1.65 billion after one and a half year.

4.Yahoo: Yahoo!, tagged the world's most visited home page is the fourth most visited website. It was ranking top until the above said people revolutionized the internet with their websites but, still standing among the top websites list fighting to win back its position. This was a pastime website designed by David Filo and Jerry Yang in the year 1996. It has an acronym “Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle” but the founders liked its original meaning.

5.Blogger: This is a story which is way back in the year 1999 where the word blog has just came into existence and a site named blogger being designed by Pyra labs. Pyra labs had two co founders Evan Williams and Meg Hourihan. Among them Evan Williams played a major role who is now a co-founder of Twitter. Meg Hourihan co-founded Kinja along with Nick Denton of Gawker Media. This website was sold for Google by Pyra labs and Evan Williams worked in Google for 1 year. This site was redesigned in 2006 for creating good features and easy user interface. Some millions of blogs have been hosted via blogger. A free platform for those who have no skill and money to create their website or blog.

6.Baidu: Baidu is a most popular Chinese search engine which came into existence from 2000. The search engine was established by co-founders, Robin Li and Eric Xu. Li was a developer for search engine algorithms and also received a US patent for his technology. This technology was used in Baidu making it a largest Chinese search engine and a third largest independent search engine in the world.

7.Windows Live: After creating a successful operating system and being tagged worlds most richest, Bill Gates owner of Microsoft never looked back. Having a passion for technology, was behind his team in developing live.com which has been launched in November 2005. It was not a one man designed site but officially it has been developed by Microsoft. Microsoft is also constantly working on some of its other sites like MSN, Windows Live (Hotmail), Bing etc.

8.Wikipedia: If a student needs an information regarding his subject either it is history or science or biotechnology what ever it may be answer is found in the largest internet encyclopedia called Wikipedia founded by Larry Sanger and Jimmy Wales. This site has largest database of articles which can be edited, added etc. This site is an ad free online encyclopedia which has made its way to the top 10 list, though was running low on funds and ran donations campaign on its website.

9.Twitter: What’s latest trend? It’s a common question among present day technologists and to update the trends in a line is all what is about twitter. A social media website founded by Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams who is a co founder for twitter. This website has won the appreciation of many visitors within a short span of time. Being launched in July 2006 has become one of the popular website of present day having more than 200 million users. It is being called the Short message service of Internet.
