After writing a couple of posts on people behind most famous websites and people who made top social bookmarking sites. Now let me introduce to some of the woman who were behind some of the famous websites. There are still many women apart from the ones mentioned in this post but I just made a list of only few.

1.Flickr: 35th most visited website wouldn’t have been with yahoo if Caterina Fake and Stewart Butterfield wouldn’t have made it. It is a photo sharing website commonly tagged under image and video hosting site launched in February 2004 after a year of its launch and popularity it was being bought by yahoo for $35 million.

2.Blogger: This website is most famous website which host many blogs through it. It was initially a website designed by Pyra Labs later acquired by google. So to remind the key persons behind Pyra Labs are Evan Willams and Meg Hourihan. Meg Hourihan is one of the co founder for Pyra Labs. She is now taking break with her family and her blog.

3.Meebo: Many websites and blogs have a multiple IM widget from meebo. This meebo widget is used for staying online through multiple email ID’s. This widget came live from Agust 2006. Sandy Jen, Seth Sternberg and Elaine Wherry were the founders of meebo. Sandy Jen and Elaine Wherry almost appeared in almost all women entrepreneurs list.

4.Blurb: Tiered of searching a publisher for your book, need to convert your PDF to a book, want books or brochures of your company to be printed at a really affordable price then I think you must take a look at Blurb. This book publishing based website has a woman named Eileen Gittins who is the founder and CEO for the company. This company had been started in 2005 and published more than 1.3 million books and has sales of more than $47 millions. Blurb has an alexa rank of 9,435 as on April 2011.

5.Ning: A website which allows a user to create their own social networking website is Ning. Since it was launched users were rapidly growing. It offered free services in the beginning but due to its popularity now it allows a 30 day free trial. It is the 250th most visited website in the world. Ning was founded by Gina Bianchini along with Marc Andreessen. She is the CEO of ning.

6.Pixelqi: One Laptop per child is the concept of Pixelqi. And the person who wanted to her way in bringing out a affordable laptop was Mary Lou Jepsen the Founder and CEO of Pixelqi. Having won many awards company is looking forward to improvise their products like bringing out nice LCD designs and so.
