What is a forum?

Forum is a kind of website where the site is divided into several categories and sub categories where users post different posts into those categories. One of the famous examples for forum based website is digital point.

In order to build a forum we need to have the forum software, hosting and a domain. These resources are required to host a forum. There are several paid forum scripts like vBulletin, IPB etc which are very costlier and also requires some knowledge of installing it on to a web host. Some of the free forum scripts are phpp3, phbb2 etc.

How Can I have a free forum based website?

If you want to build a forum based website entirely for free of cost then you require three things.

1. Free Domain name: Search for a free domain like co.cc which is free of cost.

2. Free Web hosting: Now next thing is search for a free web hosting provides which are many in number in the net but only thing is you will have all limitations.

3. Free forum Script: phpp3 is a freeware which you can search in Google and download. Next thing is you need to upload this script into your hosting account and install it. You will find installation instructions in a note pad provided by phpp3 else find it in their forums you will get greater help.

Can I earn any money from forums?

Of course we can earn money by placing ads in our forum or also by selling some products but this all needs expertise. But if you want to get into business seriously then you need to go for a good domain a nice unlimited hosting and a good script like vBulliten. Digital forum earned some millions out of its forum. But be careful never get into this for time pass for I knew few students who made a forum but later ran out recourses and had to shut. So my solution is to have a free forum.

Like blogging forums can also be built without any installation a ready made forum is available only thing is you need to place your own options, categories rules etc. I made few forums from some free forum providers like freeforums but later on due to inactivity it got deleted.
