She is a young Indian athlete who is just 18 years old born 13th June 1994 is all set to place her landmark in London Olympics. She is just a student who has to complete here XII grade. She is being trained at Tata Archery Academy and her coaches are Dharmendra Tiwary, Purnima Mahto. Initial days she used to get a stipend of 500 rs from here archery academy. Deepika was signed on by a corporate major as a manager in July. She is also being trained at an academy run by this house. Exact job profile is still unknown. Her salary here is 60,000 per month. Her father Shiv Narayan Mahato is an auto Rickshaw Driver and her mother Geeta Devi works as a Nurse.
Awards:
Outstanding Performance at Commonwealth Games [Female] Award at Sahara Sports Awards 2010 for winning two gold medals [individual and team] at the Games.
She became only the second Indian [after Palton Hansda in 2006] to win a world championship title when she won gold in the junior compound individual event at the World Archery Championships in Ogden, USA, in 2009.
Team event has crashed and two athletes Bombayla Devi & Chekrovolu have finished their events without any success. Now its all up to Deepika. she has ranked 8th in the ranking round or the qualifying round. she is expecting a gold medal at Olympics this year so we to hope its a medal chance for Indians at London Olympics 2012.
