Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide in Mumbai on Sunday. According to reports, Sushant was found hanging at his house in Bandra. He was 34.
Earlier on June 9, Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager Disha Salian allegedly committed suicide. As per news agency ANI, Disha jumped off the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad. The exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained. However, after interrogating her close friend, police said that Disha was suffering from depression for the last few days.
A team of Mumbai Police has reached his residence to investigate the matter.
Sushant started his career with television. He became a household name after starring in Ekta Kapoor's hit show 'Pavitra Rishta'. After the show, he debuted in Bollywood in 2013 with 'Kai Po Che!' and later followed it up with films like 'PK', 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', 'Kedarnath', 'Sonchiriya' and 'Chhichhore' among others. He was next to be seen in 'Dil Bechara'.
Just a few days ago, the actor had mourned the death of his former manager Disha Salian. She had reportedly committed suicide by jumping off the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad.
"It's such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha's family and friends. May your soul rest in peace," Sushant wrote on his Instagram stories.
His demise came as a shock to many as this is the fourth death of a famous personality from the Hindi film industry to pass away in the past two months, after Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor succumbed to cancer and Wajid Khan from the Sajid-Wajid duo fell prey to the coronavirus pandemic.
Condolences poured in from all quarters for the highly-talented actor who won several awards for his roles in movies like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, PK and Kedarnath.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic passing away of young Bollywood actor, a soul brimming with promise and possibilities #SushantSinghRajput. Our condolences to his family, loved ones and all those who admired his work. Gone too soon,” Youth Congress said on social media platform Twitter.
Sushant’s death comes just barely a week after his former manager Disha Salian committed suicide last Monday by jumping off the 14th floor of her apartment in Mumbai.
“It’s such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha's family and friends. May your soul rest in peace,” Sushant had said back then.
“Shocked & deeply saddened to hear about the suicide of talented & brilliant actor Sushant Singh Rajput. This unfortunate death of a young & successful individual brings issues related to mental health, particularly in these times, to the fore. RIP,” Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.
