Top 25 most visited Indian Websites for 2012

Many people are aware of world’s top visited sites like Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc but I made a list of Top 25 most visited Indian Websites basing on Alexa ranking. Last year I made a list of top most visited Indian websites which has got rediff at the top. But this year’s list is completely different. It has many changes like rediff slipping to the 2^nd position and  Indiatimes making its way to top the list with the first position.There were some new entries into the list like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Quikr, Reliancenetconnect, Makemytrip and tataindicom. Some sites like komli, clickindia, Bharatstudent,Sify and Timesjobs are out of the list. Below is the list of top 25 most visited Indian websites.

Way2sms had dropped from 5^th position to 12^th position. IRCTC website just headed its way to 4rth position. Sites like Snapdeal and Flipkart made a successful entry into the top 10 list. Snapdeal has reached to 6^th position within its 2 years of launch. Of course there are many factors which made new sites to secure positions in the top 25 list. Sify had just missed its place and is comfortable at 26^th position.

Banking websites like hdfc and icici too made their positions strong in the list, communication sites like reliance and tataindicom too had joined the list. Quikr would be a surprise entry and a happy website which almost paved its path into 13th position making a graph with an constant inclination. ClickIndia which was in the list last year with an Alexa ranking of 978 is now out of the list  with an Alexa ranking of 3,079.

This list doesn’t accommodate sites like Google.co.in, ebay.in and olx.in as they are foreign sites with Indian sub domain. This list is strictly based on Indian origin. Few sites which run on sub domains of the above mention sites are also not listed. For example Sulekha has many sub domain sites like blog.Sulekha.com etc which too has the same Alexa rank so all such sub domains are omitted.

This list is completely based on research and most of the information provided  or the ranking done was purely based on Alexa nothing more.  This post is only for the purpose of knowing which are the top most visited Indian websites. All the Alexa ranking mentioned was recorded during March 2012. There may be change of rankings and positions in mean time.
