Saina Nehwal of India goes past quarter finals and enters into semi final of the women's singles badminton event by defeating Tina Baun of Denmark with scores of 21-15, 22-20. The first game lasted for 16 minutes and the second game lasted 21 minutes. She was in top form and sent a warning to her opponents with her full array of shots that demolished the fifth seed.

Seeing previous history of both the players reveals that they have won 3 matches against each other which made a serious issue for them to decide who will win this match. Saina scored 10 points without service and 12 points with service in the second game. The second game had a much tense situation as it was a game point for Dane and as Saina survived it was deuce and at last Saina took the advantage and it was match point. It is really a historic win for Nehwal.

Nehwal will face China's Yihan Wang, who is the world number 1, in the semi-final on Friday that is tomorrow. In the last five matches between them Nehwal had never won a single match.
