What a day for India's Vijay Kumar who bagged a silver medal in 25m rapid fire pistol. So again the shooting team celebrates after Gagan Narang's Bronze. Entering the 5th position in the final round Vijay Kumar showed a consistency in his shooting. In the first round he scored 5 out of 5 and in remaining all series he fired 4 out of 5, in the fourth series he scored 3 out of five and at last when he was confirmed for a silver he fired 2 out of 5 shots. Vijay Kumar wins India's second medal. Kumar finishes with a total of 30.

Cuba Shooter Leuris Pupo wins a Gold for the event and Ding Feng of China is comfortable with a bronze medal.

Who is Vijay Kumar?
Kumar hails from Harsour village of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh and is presently serving as subedar in the Indian Army.
- At the 2006 Commonwealth Games, he had won two gold medals, the individual 25 metre rapid fire pistol competition and the pairs competition in the same event together with Pemba Tamang.
- He also won a bronze medal in the Asian Games despite actually finishing fourth because of a rule that prevented China from winning all three medals.
- In 2007, he finished second at the Asian Championship in 25 metre center-fire pistol. He also won a silver medal at the 2009 ISSF World Cup Beijing in rapid fire pistol.
In 2007, he received the Arjuna Award.
- In the 2010 Commonwealth Games, he won 3 gold medals and one silver.
- At London 2012, Kumar failed to qualify for men’s 10m Air Pistol finals after finishing 31st. But he’s not complaining anymore.

- At London 2012, Kumar not only qualified but brought laurels to Indian Shooting team by bagging a silver medal.
