Many mobile users always end up in wasting their money in paying their prepaid or postpaid bills. So I just wrote few things where we need to think before spending. May be network providers doesn't like this post but even than it is an helpful post for all who really need to cut short their mobile bills.
Caller tunes: This feature is available in all the network providers where they charge on monthly basis ranging from 20 to 30 Rupees. If you need to change your song they will also charge some amount so I feel it is better to forgo caller tune rather than using it. Annually you can save minimum of 240 Rupees. May be 240 is a small amount but I felt using it for a talk time is a smart decision.

Alerts: This feature is also a hot feature among network providers, Cricket alerts, News alerts, Devotional, English words etc are some of the most widely used alerts which is also costing around 20 to 45 Rupees a month. So how about choosing only few most needed alerts which are apt. If you are in for learning English words then go for the best available alerts concerning English word but don’t go on for TOEFL alerts, GRE Alerts, etc.
Downloads: Downloading ring tones, pictures, games, applications etc from your GPRS handset costs you much when compared to data transfer from a system. So always be smart in this area download whatever you want from internet and transfer into your mobile through your data cable. Also make use of Blue tooth feature where you can transfer files from one mobile to another after you have a secure mobile anti virus.
Recharging: Think well before you recharge. If you are a user who uses chota(small) recharge then you need to think. Say for example you recharged your mobile with 10 Rs you will get a balance around 7 Rs suppose you recharge every day with rupees 10 for 30 days. Your expenditure will be around 300 Rs and the talk time you get would be 210 Rs. Now if you choose a one time recharge of 300 Rs you will at least get a talk time around 250, I just gave an example but you even get more than that. Some network providers promise a full talk time for larger recharging so opt for such recharging rather than using small recharge for multiple times. Small recharges are ok if it is once or twice in a month in the time of financial crisis but on regular basis it is a loss.
Choosing a Bonus Pack: All network providers have a bonus recharge packs for additional talk time, lower STD rates, SMS, Roaming etc. So in choosing such bonus packs carefully go though the benefits you get. Some times choosing a wrong bonus pack also gets you into loss. For example if you recharge for 21 Rs your call cost would be 0.50 per call and if you recharge with 20 Rs you will get 1 sec 1 Paisa offer. Now Which is better many think 1 sec 1 Paisa for 20 Rs is the better option. But think if 1 sec is 1 Paisa then for 1 minute it gets around 0.60 Rs If you had chosen the 20 Rs pack you would have got 0.50 Per call only thing is you need to talk complete minute. Choosing a bonus pack for longer duration like 3 months is better option than choosing it for 1 month. So you need to think smart before you use your mobile.
Some suggestions to make your mobile balance last long.
- Avoid talking for hours.
- Minimize the frequency of changing your caller tune song.
- Before you send SMS make sure you are having a bonus pack activated.
- Have a note of the days when SMS rates will be normal.
- Always try a bigger denomination recharge over a multiple smaller recharges.
- Have a minimal use of alerts.
- Keep an eye on the festival offers before you recharge some times they through you into trouble.
- Try out network providers which offer a less price for mobiles in the same network.
- Think before using GPRS, if any bonus packs are available activate it and then use.
- Never have more than 3 bonus packs activated, for your money will be wasted on bonus packs rather than talk time.
- Always maintain a calculated budget for every month and never cross that mark.
- Use only one Sim rather than 2 Sims. Dual Sim mobile phone is a latest technology tweak among mobile phones it is just to double your mobile bill.
